FADU - Federação Académica do Desporto Universitário
Portuguese University Sports Federation
The Portuguese University Sports Federations (FADU), was founded in 1990 thanks to a movement of various student academies with the goal to energize, promote and organize higher education sports activity.

It is a multi-sports federation that aims to encourage competition, socialization and exchange amongst students of different higher education institutions through various sports, in Portugal and abroad. It also seeks to develop the competition and team spirit, as well as promote fair play, introducing healthy lifestyle habits in the student community. Nowadays it has approximately 5 000 students covering 18 sports.

FADU has public use status since 1995 and is an active member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), being these two institutions important players in the promotion of university sport in Portugal.
